Clinical Advisor to the Early Intervention in Psychosis Spotlight Audit

£600 per day payable via invoice in rears

10 days from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019

Location: London

The Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Centre for Quality Improvement (CCQI) has a successful history of running national audits as part of its quality improvement programme.  Their purpose is to provide services and practitioners with a benchmark of best practice, to help maintain standards and to enable improvement in the care of patients/service users.  Audits also enable services to compare the care that they provide against other comparable services.

The National Clinical Audit of Psychosis (NCAP) will provide reliable benchmarked data that allows commissioners, providers and users of mental health services to assess and improve the quality of secondary care that people with psychosis receive. NCAP is the next phase in the development of the National Audit of Schizophrenia. The scope of the audit has been extended to include both inpatient and community care provided for people with a broader group of severe mental health problems.

Key areas of performance will include the assessment and treatment of physical health, health promotion, prescribing practice, use of evidence-based psychological treatments and access to services at times of crisis. The audit programme will also include a more detailed examination of the quality of care provided by Early Intervention in Psychosis teams and forensic mental health services.
