Bid process and Campaign focus areas

The bid process

As part of the Images of Psychiatry campaign, bids for funding of projects which supported the aims of the campaign were invited from the College Divisions.

In total, 33 bids from across all the Divisions were received, with the funding requested totally almost £270,000.

From a campaign fund totalling £75,000, awards were made to 15 bids, with each Division being offered funding for one or more project.

Campaign focus areas:

Each project links into one of the four main focus areas of the campaign.  These areas are:

Users and carers: to develop mutual understanding and respect between users, carers and psychiatrists, and to promote involvement of users and carers in all aspects of mental health services, such as training and selection.

Perceptions of psychiatry: to clearly define the nature and role of modern psychiatry.

School curriculum: to raise the profile of mental health in schools, include eduction about mental health on the required curriculum and to provide information and continuing professional development (CPD) for teachers.

Undergraduate education: to develop web-based resources of good practice for undergraduate teaching of psychiatry and to promote psychiatry as a career.
