The ECTAS Accreditation Process

The ECTAS accreditation process incorporates elements that research has demonstrated to be effective in bringing about quality improvement.

After joining ECTAS, a clinic is given access to the online review tools.   The clinic then embarks on a 12 month review process, which incorporates:

  • Self-review, including a case note audit, patient questionnaires and staff questionnaires
  • A one day peer-review visit by an external team
  • Recommendation of accreditation status by the Accreditation Advisory committee
  • Ratification of accreditation status by the Royal College of Psychiatrists Education, Training and Standards Committee

Accreditation is awarded for 3 years from the point of peer review, subject to satisfactory completion of an Interim Review at 12 months.
