The Economic Downturn and Commissioning of Mental
Health Services - a Trent Division Perspective
As part of the Fair Deal for Mental Health
campaign, the College is keen to strengthen and extend the
engagement of College members, service users and carers in the
Divisions with local decision makers to improve mental health
services in their region.
The first step in this project is a questionnaire for
psychiatrists which focuses on the impact of the economic downturn
and the local commissioning process. All completed questionnaires
would be gratefully received.
For further details on this project and the Questionnaire itself

About the Trent Division
The Trent Division of The Royal College of Psychiatrists covers
the following areas: Barnsley, Doncaster, Leicestershire,
Lincolnshire, North Derbyshire, South Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire,
Rotherham, Sheffield and the South Humber.
This is a large geographical area stretching from Sheffield in
the north, to Leicester in the south, and from the Pennines in the
west to the Lincolnshire coast and the Wash in the east. There are
three medical schools in the Division at Sheffield, Nottingham and
Leicester.
The Trent Division Executive Committee meets every 3 months at
different venues within the region, and an Annual Meeting with
a substantial academic content takes place once a year. The
Trent Division CPD Committee meets prior to Executive Committee
meetings. The Annual Meeting is open to all
Members and Associates of the Division
- it has CPD approval and includes various prizes and competitions. The Executive Committee
of the Trent Division is particularly keen to encourage CPD and
Affiliateship, and fully supports the College in its drive against
stigma.
