Psychopharmacology Special Interest Group

About the Psychopharmacology Special Interest Group

About the Psychopharmacology SIG

The inaugural meeting of the Special Interest Group in Psychopharmacology was held at the Royal College of Psychiatrists on 3 May 2000. Approximately 250 members of the College had expressed interest in the establishment of this Group. The main aims of the Psychopharmacology SIG are:

  • to promote teaching, research and the clinical practice of psychopharmacology as related to psychiatry
  • provide advice to the College on matters within the remit of psychopharmacology, as requested.

These aims will be pursued in collaboration with various bodies both inside and outside the College. There is a good degree of common ground with the British Association for Psychopharmacology, and strong links between the Psychopharmacology SIG and the BAP are envisaged.
