Call for entries: RCPsych Awards 2010

Closing date for entries extended to Wednesday 10 March 2010

With the success of the inaugural RCPsych Awards still fresh in our minds, I am delighted to announce the call for entries for the RCPsych Awards 2010.

The number and quality of entries we received in 2009 far exceeded our expectations. The prestigious Awards ceremony, held at the Royal Society of Medicine, brought together over 300 psychiatrists, allied mental health professionals, and service user and carer representatives. It was hugely gratifying to be able to celebrate so much unsung talent and enthusiasm within mental health services. Now the search begins for the stars of 2010.

As in 2009, we aim to reward the most dedicated psychiatrists, the most innovative teams and services, the most talented trainees, the very best academic and the most influential public educator.

New for 2010, we will also be extending a special recognition to child and adolescent mental health services, with a new Awards category for Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Provider of the Year.

The full list of categories for the RCPsych Awards 2010 are:

*   Core Psychiatric Trainee of the Year (CT1–CT3)

*   Advanced Psychiatric Trainee of the Year (ST4–ST6 and SpR)

*   Psychiatric Academic of the Year

*   Public Educator of the Year

*   Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Provider of the Year

 Mental Health Services Provider of the Year

  Psychiatric Team of the Year

*   Medical Manager/Leader of the Year

  Psychiatrist of the Year

*   Lifetime Achievement Award

Last year’s winners received the acclaim and recognition they so richly deserved – both regionally and nationally – and the 2010 Awards are your opportunity to nominate those outstanding teams and individuals who are making a real difference to mental health services.
