Respiratory

Epilepsy

• SIGN guidelines on epilepsy developed by clinicians in Scotland

 

• British paediatric neurology association is good source for information on childhood neurological illnesses including epilepsy.

 

• Epilepsy is a common comorbidity of autism. Autism Support has information which will be useful for parents of children with autistic spectrum conditions.

 

• 'Contact a Family' is an excellent resource for familes with disabled children 

 

 

Diabetes

• NICE Guidelines on Diabetes (see page 29 of CG15 'Type 1 diabetes in children, young people and adults' for discussion of psychsocial issues in children and young people).

 

 

Cancer

• Integrating psychosocial care with the medical management of children and young people with cancer is important for better outcome of childhood cancer.      

 

• Page 63 of the NICE guideline on service development and needs assessment of children’s cancer services mentions occupational therapy and psychology services as a gap in service provision in most specialist services across UK
