17 December: Eating Disorders

Most of us look forward to Christmas but for people living with mental illness it can be a very challenging time of year. Many feel lonely and isolated from family and friends and others may be anxious about social situations or have worries about money problems or debt.

Each day leading up to Christmas we’re highlighting a different mental health resource from our site, which we hope will provide help and support not just for now, but throughout 2018 and beyond.

For 17 December we’ve chosen our information about Eating Disorders. Many ‘eating styles’ can help us to stay healthy - but some are driven by an intense fear of becoming fat. These can damage our health and are called eating disorders. Our short video looks at the causes of Eating Disorders, some of the harmful physical effects and how to get help.
