The Royal College of Psychiatrists Improving the lives of people with mental illness

18 December: Anxiety, Panic and Phobias

Most of us look forward to Christmas but for people living with mental illness it can be a very challenging time of year. Many feel lonely and isolated from family and friends and others may be anxious about social situations or have worries about money problems or debt.

Each day leading up to Christmas we’re highlighting a different mental health resource from our site, which we hope will provide help and support not just for now, but throughout 2018 and beyond.

For 18 December we’ve chosen our information about anxiety, panic and phobias. Anxiety feels like fear. When it's there a lot of the time, caused by a problem in our life that can't be solved, like money difficulties, we call it worry. Our information about anxiety, panic and phobias is for anyone who finds their anxiety is a problem - but also for any friends and relatives who want to understand more about it.
