Embargoed until 20 March 2009

Dr Paul Lelliott, consultant psychiatrist and director of the College Research and Training Unit, has been appointed as an expert member of the Department of Health’s National Quality Board (NQB).

The board has been set up to help deliver the goal of high quality NHS care for patients, as set out in Lord Ara Darzi’s Next Stage Review.

The board will be chaired by NHS chief executive David Nicholson.

The NQB will hold its first meeting on the 30 March 2009, and produce an annual report on delivering quality in June 2009.
