The Royal College of Psychiatrists is pleased
to announce that Professor Nick Craddock has been elected as the
next Treasurer. He will take office after the College’s Annual
General Meeting in Brighton on Thursday 30 June 2011.
Professor Craddock has been involved in College activities for
many years. From 2008 to 2011, he was Chair of the Academic
Faculty.
He is Professor at the Department of
Psychological Medicine and Neurology at the Cardiff University
School of Medicine. Professor Craddock's research group uses
clinical and molecular genetic investigations to better understand
causes and triggers of bipolar spectrum mood disorders and
psychosis. His specific interest is using research knowledge to
improve clinical diagnosis and management. Professor Craddock heads
the Cardiff University Psychiatry Service, and his clinical
interests lie in diagnosis and management of bipolar spectrum
disorders.
Professor Craddock will succeed the
current Treasurer, Professor George Ikkos. Professor Ikkos has held
the post for the last 5 years.
