The normal route to
membership of the College requires 30 months
post foundation/internship experience in Psychiatry AND a pass
in
ALL components of the MRCPsych
Examinations.

Specialist associateship
The College is delighted to announce
the launch of the new grade of Specialist Associateship and to
invite applications at this time.
Specialist Associateship of the College is
open to registered medical practitioners working in the United
Kingdom and who meet the following criteria:
- At least 5 years experience in
psychiatry.
- Specialist training which has been assessed
in the United Kingdom as being at least equivalent to a full
programme of specialist training in psychiatry in the United
Kingdom.
- Support from two sponsors who are subscribing
Members or Fellows of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Support from the Chair of the College
Division in which the applicant is working at the time of
application (the College will submit completed forms to
Divisional Chairs on behalf of applicants).

General
information
Fellowship is awarded to a Member who has
made a significant and distinctive contribution to psychiatry and
depends upon the recommendation of two subscribing Members of the
College. Fellowship is not normally awarded until the nominee has
held the Membership for a minimum of ten years. The process by
which Members be awarded Fellowship of the College is that they
should be nominated, proposed and seconded by two Members of the
College.

International associate
International Associateship may be awarded to psychiatrists
with five years’ experience in psychiatry who do not hold the
MRCPsych, but who hold a specialist qualification in psychiatry and
who reside outside the UK .

How much does it cost to join?
International Associates will be charged an annual subscription fee
which is 10% higher than the fee for Overseas Members banded
according to the World Bank classification as follows (Appendix

The registration fee will be waived for all applications received
before 30th September 2010. After that date the registration fee
will be charged for all applications at the level approved by the
