What is College Affiliateship and who is
eligible?
Affiliateship is open to psychiatrists in the Specialty
Doctor,Staff Grade and other Non-Consultant Career Grade posts such
as Clinical Assistants and Associate Specialists. Other job titles
are sometimes used to describe such posts, and individual
consideration might be given to doctors in other grades, not
specified above, but who are nevertheless working in
Psychiatry.
This grade enables psychiatrists who are not in training grades
or consultant posts, and who do not have the MRCPsych,
to join the College.
You can apply to be an Affiliate if you meet the
criteria below:
"Any two Members of the College may nominate a qualified Medical
Practitioner who is working as a psychiatrist in the United
Kingdom, does not hold the MRCPsych qualification, does not hold
specialist registration and who has met the criteria for
appointment to their post, as set out from time to time by the
Departments of Health in United Kingdom, which should not be an
approved training post, substantive consultant post or honorary
consultant post."
