Training materials to
support the implementation of the Mental Health Act
2007
The Welsh Assembly Government commissioned the development of
learning resources to support the implementation of the Mental
Health Act 2007 in Wales. These learning resources have been
developed to ensure that educational material is accessible to all
staff and organisations affected by the legislative changes.
The resources focus on the changes introduced by the Mental Health
Act 2007 and the related provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983
Code of Practice for Wales.

Continuing Professional Development
(CPD)
CPD is a key contribution to
promoting life-long learning, at its core, CPD requires
pshychiatrists to maintain, develop and remedy any deficits in the
knowledge and skills relevant to their professional work. CPD
participation is central to maintaining standards within clinical
governance and is likely to have a key role in revalidation.
The College considers that individual psychiatrists should now
preplan their CPD activities to ensure relevance to the work that
they do. Personal Development
Plans (PDPs) have been introduced as the mechanism
for achieving CPD objectives.
