The Economic Downturn and Commissioning of Mental
Health Services - a West Midlands Perspective
As part of the Fair Deal for Mental Health
campaign, the College is keen to strengthen and extend the
engagement of College members, service users and carers in the
Divisions with local decision makers to improve mental health
services in their region.
The first step in this project is a
questionnaire for psychiatrists, which focuses on the impact of the
economic downturn and the local commissioning process. All
completed questionnaires would be gratefully received.
For further details on this project and the Questionnaire itself

About the West Midlands Division
Welcome to the web page of the West Midlands Division. The
Division comprises all Members and Associates of the Royal College
of Psychiatrists living or working in the West Midlands.
The Executive Committee tries to communicate College issues to
all members of the Division. All Mental Health Trusts in the Region
have either an Executive Committee Member or a Link Member who is
responsible for transmitting information locally. The Committee
also transmits members' concerns to the College. The Committee
agenda includes both service and professional issues and the
following sub-committees have been formed to concentrate on
specific areas: Affiliates; BME issues; Medical Directors; Public
Education; and Service Users and Carers.
The Executive Committee acts as a liaison point for other
interested bodies in the West Midlands and the Regional
Representatives from each Faculty are invited to attend.

If you have been a consultant for more than three years, would
you be interested in representing the College as an Assessor on

ensure good practice is maintained at all AACs and to provide a
constructive assessment of applicants' expertise for the
post. For full details on the role and how to become an
Assessor, please contact Charlotte Cox or
