Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film
Festival: 1 - 24 October
Now a regular on the arts scene, the 4th Scottish Mental Health Arts and
Film Festival has grown to become one of Scotland's most
valued cultural events, with nearly 200 exciting and affordable
events taking place in venues throughout the country. The
Festival has engaged artists, connected with communities and formed
partnerships across Scotland to help challenge attitudes towards
mental health through the arts. The range of issues tackled is
broad and arts events include film, music, theatre, literature,
comedy and visual art
Open call for short films
on mental health
Arts &
Minds and the Leeds International Film Festival are looking for
short films about mental health and stigma. The films will be shown
at a special event in November. The event aims to reduce the stigma
around mental health and is part of the national Time to Change
Campaign. Film-makers from across the UK are invited to submit
short films of any genre, and a maximum length of 10 minutes.
The Almeida, London: House
of Games post-show discussion: 25 October
This is the third discussion in the Almeida’s
Representations of Psychiatry and
Psychotherapy Series, in association with the Royal
College of Psychiatrists. Confirmed Panellists: Dr Henrietta
Bowden-Jones, Consultant Psychiatrist & Lead Clinician at the
National Problem Gambling Clinic; Dr Tim McInerny: Consultant
Forensic Psychiatrist, Bethlem Royal Hospital; and Dr Cleo van
Velsen (chair), Consultant Psychiatrist in Forensic Psychotherapy.
Tickets to the performance are £8-£29.50 and post show panel

Guardian launches website
on Global Development
The Guardian has launched a new website
dedicated to the issues affecting the lives of billions of people
across the developing world. The site will be reporting on every
aspect of development, the best ideas, the sharpest thinkers and
new voices who will be making change happen. Our special focus will
be to track the millennium development goals, the greatest promise
