Friday, 27 April
Last night we held a careers evening at
Belgrave Square for medical students. It was an absolute joy to
meet with a group of medical students bright and caring enough to
know that the only possible career they can follow is psychiatry!
Dr Alice Lomax, chair of our Psychiatric Trainees Committee, Dr Tom
Brown, our Associate Registrar for Recruitment, Dr Wendy Burn, the
Dean, and many others were there last night, and all did a splendid
job of increasing the student’s knowledge of the huge variety of
clinical and academic opportunities that lie open to them with a
career in psychiatry.
Today is the meeting of our College Council.
Next week, I will blog again to give you information about the key
actions that arise from the meeting.
After Council, it’s home to my grandchildren
and the leaking roof. For those of you who read this blog regularly
and have followed the leaky roof saga, you may like to know that a
solution is now in sight!
Next week, I'm attending two conferences
organised by the Eastern Division North West Division, and hope to
meet many more membrs then. I will be attending a meeting with the
Department of Health about actions we all need to take following
Winterbourne, and preparing to fly out to Philadelphia on Friday
for the American Psychiatric Association's 165th Annual Congress.
Wishing you a good weekend.
Sue
