Work and Mental Health

Clinician

This area contains information and links to resources which are mainly aimed at healthcare professionals working in primary and secondary care settings.

Working is, for most patients, a positive clinical outcome and can be an intervention in its own right

Ensure that any clinical interventions support your patients to stay in work

Help patients to understand the possible impact on their work of their mental health problem and support them in making the right changes to enable them to return to work

If you are a member of the Royal College of Nursing you can find information on vocational rehabilitation: the health workers role on the website ‘Learning Zone’  which is accessible to members of the College only.

If you are an occupational therapist there are interactive web-based resources on the Work Matters website.  These modules were developed to support members of the College of Occupational Therapists by providing practical advice on assessing workplaces.  Units 1 and 2 are accessible to everyone, while you will need an account username and password to access modules 3 to 7.

Further information on occupational therapy and mental health can be found at British Association of Occupational Therapists and College of Occupational Therapists
