Support at work when you have a mental health problem

Be proactive and use the support available to enable you to stay in work successfully

Many people with mental ill-health continue to work successfully. In fact work is part of the recovery process for many people, and can help prevent a mental health condition from getting worse. But, most people will need some type of support to continue to work well.

How you do this depends on what your employer already knows about your mental ill-health, and whether you discussed this together as part of the process when you started your job.  It also depends on the nature and atmosphere of your workplace.
