About us

The Committee meets four times a year to discuss guidance on psychiatric professional practice, including issues of policy into practice, confidentiality, probity and conflicts of interest. Members of the Committee are those who have expertise and interest in ethics, confidentiality, quality standards and the relationship between policy and practice. The Committee also has the additional function of overseeing the accreditation decisions made by the College Centre for Quality Improvement (CCQI). The committee has links with the College Centre for Quality Improvement, the UK Clinical Ethics Network, the General Medical Council and the National Clinical Assessment Service.

 

Queries / Meeting dates

If anyone has any queries concerning ethical/confidentiality/professional practice issues that they would like SCPPE to give advice on please contact Helen Phillips (hphillips@rcpsych.ac.uk). The committee will aim to provide you with an answer within a month however some queries may require additional consideration and therefore will be discussed at the next committee meeting.

 

The dates for the Special Committee for Professional Practice and Ethics meetings scheduled in 2014 are:

  • Wednesday 15th January
  • Thursday 3rd April
  • Wednesday 16th July
  • Thursday 9th October
