Act 2001
The Mental Health Act 2001 was introduced by the Minister for
Health & Children to replace the Mental Treatment Act of
1945. The implementation of the Mental Health Act 2001 is
anticipated towards the end of 2006 and the Irish College, in
collaboration with the Mental Health Commission, has trained over
350 consultant psychiatrists, Senior Registrars and Clinical
Directors in preparation.
