College Policy Statements

College Policy Statements provide a clear explanation of the views of the Royal College of Psychiatrists on selected issues.  

Policy Statements are based on previously published but often longer formal College reports or public statements (e.g. an existing Council Report, a consultation response from the College, or other appropriate communication).

In some circumstances, Policy Statements are produced where there is no previously published College document or public communication.  In these situations, a statement is produced in collaboration with the President, Registrar or other Senior Officers of the College.

Each Policy Statement is co-authored by members of the Policy Unit and Communications Department in collaboration with psychiatrists with expertise in the specific area, and is approved by the Registrar before publication.
