As part of the DWPs plans to replace Disability Living allowance (DLA) with a new Personal Independence Payment (PIP) they are designing a face to face assessment scheme for applicants.  The RCPsych assisted in a pilot to test this proposed scheme along with physicians, occupational therapists and people with disabilities.  They were asked to critically assess the assessments carried out by ATOS clinicians.
