The Government has published a Bill to reform the welfare
system.
Health Act 2006
This Act covers a wide range of topics, most notably the
inclusion of a smoking ban. The following section contains links to

Assisted Dying for the Terminally Ill Bill
In May 2006, a Bill to legalise Physician-assisted Suicide
(PAS) in England and Wales received its second reading in the
Lords. The Bill was blocked after a lengthy debate.
Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Bill
The Government has published new legislation to centralise the
vetting system for people who work with children and vulnerable
adults.
NHS Redress Bill
This Bill is an attempt to reform the way that small clinical
negligence cases are handled by the NHS. The Bill seeks to set out
a system of redress such as investigation and financial
compensation without the need to go to court. Below is a link to

Equality Act 2006
In this piece of Legislation the Government is replacing
multiple existing equality organisations into a single Commission
for Equality and Human Rights. The work currently undertaking by
the Disability Rights Commission are amongst those being
transferred to the CRHR. Included in this section is the
briefing from the DRC on its amalgamation.
