Commenting on the establishment of the Children’s and Young
People’s Health Outcomes Forum last month, Dr Margaret Murphy,
Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Faculty of Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry, said:
"We warmly welcome this important opportunity for professionals,
users and carers across all of children's services to develop an
outcomes framework and set of principles for children and young
people's services.
"Through a three-month period of engagement, the Forum aims to
identify the health issues that matter most to children and young
people and consider how a modern NHS will meet their needs. This is
particularly welcome because it represents a recognition that we
may need to do things differently to ensure a child-friendly
NHS."
The Children’s and Young People’s Health Outcomes Forum will be
jointly chaired by Professor Ian Lewis, Medical Director at the
Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, and Christine Lenehan,
Director at the Council for Disabled Children. Child psychiatrists
Dr Margaret Murphy and Professor Stephen Scott will be members of
the Forum.
