A Vision for Change: The Report of the Expert Group on Mental Health Policy

A Vision for Chance was launched by the Mental Health Commission in January 2006. The Irish College were heavily involved on the evening of the launch issuing an immediate press statement, to be followed by a full response in the summer of 2006.

The Mental Health Act 2001 was introduced by the Minister for Health & Children to replace the Mental Treatment Act of 1945. The implementation of the Mental Health Act 2001 is anticipated towards the end of 2006 and the Irish College, in collaboration with the Mental Health Commission, has trained over 350 consultant psychiatrists, Senior Registrars and Clinical Directors in preparation.
