Falling in Love
Sheila Hollins, Wendy Perez and Adam Abdelnoor, illustrated by Beth Webb

People with learning disabilities are just as entitled as
anyone else to have intimate relationships.
This is a book about two people who are introduced by friends.
Mike and Janet get on well and enjoy doing things together. This
love story follows their relationship through the first date,
meeting each other's parents and the issue of sex, until they
are able to make a commitment to each other and become engaged to
be married.

Although their families try to discourage them, through
discussions with and great support given from their friends, they
work through all their worries.
Readers can identify with Mike and Janet, and use the book as
a starting point to explore their own relationships, and the role
of families, friends and carers in supporting them.
There is text at the back of the book for supporters and
carers. This includes:
- A suggested storyline
- Information on love, relationships and consent.
- List of relevant organisations and their contact details.
- Other recommended resources.
- Guidelines for using the book.
....our Books Beyond Words title about staying
healthy and safe in a loving sexual relationship and taking care of
your sexual health.
