Susan does not understand what is happening to her when she finds blood on her sheets and clothes. She does not tell her mother, but goes straight to school. Other girls are pointing at the bloodstains.

 

A teacher explains to her that she has become a woman and her periods have started. Susan's mother takes her shopping to celebrate.
