George Gets Smart

 George Gets Smart

George

This is a story about what can happen when you do not keep yourself clean. It helps to help explain the importance of personal hygiene to people with learning disabilities.

George works hard in a smelly job. He likes being with people and does not understand why they seem to avoid him.  We follow George's daily life - at home, at work, on the bus and in the pub.

George's life changes when he learns to keep clean and dress more smartly.

Not only is he happy with the way he now looks and feels but his friends and work-mates want to be with him. George enjoys their company and no longer feels lonely.

There is supporting text in the back of the book for carers.  This includes:
  • A suggested storyline
  • Background information on personal hygiene and the importance of encouraging people to make choices for themselves. .
  • Lists of relevant organisations and literature for further help.
  • Guidelines on how to use the book.
