1. This photo shows Peter with his parents and
his brother Mark. Fudge, the cat is there too.
2. One day, Peter’s social worker told him
about a new house. She told Peter he could live there with some
other people. “Do you want to come and see it?” she asked.
3. Peter and his Mum went to see what the
house was like.
4. Mary, Tim, Linda and Jo lived there. He
liked them a lot.
5. A letter came saying Peter could move
in.
6. Peter thought about his family. He was
grown up now. Did he still want to live with his Mum and Dad?
7. Peter thought about the people in the new
house. Did he want to live with Mary, Tim, Linda and Jo?
8. Peter talked to his parents about what to
do.
9. Peter talked to his social worker about the
new house. He said he wanted to go there.
10. The social worker talked to Social
Services. They said they would pay Peter’s rent.
11. Peter’s social worker told him when he
could move.
12. Peter packed his things. He felt sad about
leaving his family.
13. Peter wanted to take his special chair.
His father said, “No!”
14. Mum said, “It’s Peter’s chair. He can take
it if he wants. It will remind him of home.”
15. Peter gave presents to Mark and his Mum
and Dad. They gave him a picture to put in his new room.
16. Mum and Dad drove Peter to his new home.
Peter felt very nervous when they got there.
17. They carried his things in.
18. The chair was very heavy. It was hard work
getting it upstairs.
19. Peter was happy when everything was in its
place.
20. At supper, everyone was talking to
Peter.
21. At bedtime, Peter couldn’t sleep. He felt
lonely.
22. Next day Peter was quiet and unhappy. Mary
tried to cheer him up with some coffee. She had seen the broken
picture.
23. Mary helped Peter feel at home.
24. Later he enjoyed shopping with Linda.
25. Another day Peter went bowling with Tim.
They had a wonderful time.
26. Peter went to see his family for the day.
They were pleased to see him. Even the cat seemed excited!
27. Mum washed up the tea things. Peter talked
about his new friends.
28. Peter felt sad when it was time to say
goodbye.
29. Peter walked home slowly. He didn’t want
to go in.
30. He didn’t want to help Tim with the jobs.
Tim was cross when Peter knocked a mug over.
31. Tim could see that Peter was homesick. He
tried to help his new friend.
32. Peter cheered up. He enjoyed helping Tim
and Linda in the kitchen.
33. When the jobs were done, they all had fun
together.
34. & 35. Peter looked at his pictures. He
was happy living with his family but now he liked living with his
new friends.
