This report is a consensus statement of the College of
Occupational Therapists and the Royal College of Psychiatrists. It
is the second statement produced by both professional bodies. Since
the first statement was produced in 1992, mental health services
and their delivery have changed considerably. These changes are
recognised in this report, which is the result of over two years'
collaborative work between the two Colleges.
The report describes the way in which occupational therapists
and psychiatrists can promote closer professional links within the
context of shared clinical and educational goals.
It covers:
- Respective roles
- Clinical governance
- Continuing professional development issues
- Recruitment and retention
- The agenda for the future
