Revalidation is the process by which licensed doctors will have to
demonstrate to the General Medical Council (GMC) that they are up
to date and fit to practise and that they are complying with the
relevant professional standards.
This document has been updated from CR161. Revalidation and
Guidance for Psychiatrists (published in 2010) to reflect
current GMC guidance (General Medical Council,
2010a).
Revalidation is expected to begin in late 2012.
