Accreditation

Services accredited by the Quality Network for Community CAMHS have undergone an in-depth self review and peer review process to check levels of compliance against the network’s Quality Standards.

These reviews are more thorough than the usual quality improvement reviews in that they require more evidence to validate self-ratings, use more sources of information and different methods of data collection.

Benefits of Accreditation

Accreditation was piloted in six designated sites in 2009-10, and now all services which have participated in at least one cycle of the Quality Network for Community CAMHS are eligible to apply for accredited status. Benefits of accreditation include:

  • The chance to have the quality of your service recognised through a national accreditation system

  • The opportunity to demonstrate the quality of your service to young people, parents, referrers and commissioners

  • Members who have already participated in the quality network will be able to progress using the robust accreditation process

Services who sign up for accreditation will go through an in-depth self review and peer review process to check levels of compliance against the network’s Quality Standards. These reviews require services to provide evidence to validate self-ratings.

Staff, young people, parents, referrers and commissioners will complete a short online questionnaire in advance of the day to gauge their opinions and knowledge. On the review day, the review team use this information to decide whether services meet the QNCC standards. After the day an accreditation committee will review your evidence to decide whether you can be accredited.

  • Accreditation is awarded by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and lasts for 3 years

  • The accreditation status of all services who apply to be accredited is published on the QNCC website

Signing up for accreditation:  Members who have already received at least one standard review are eligible for accreditation, involving a further more detailed review visit.  Accreditation lasts for 3 years and costs £2,495 + VAT. Teams have the option of undertaking standard reviews or elf reviews only in the intervening years. Discounts may also apply for signing up multiple teams, please see 'How to Become a Member', or contact one of the team for further details.
