National CAMHS Conference 2011 - 18th November 2011


 

The Quality Network for Community CAMHS’ National CAMHS Conference was held on Friday 18th November in central London.  The conference was targeted at clinicians working within community CAMH services, including learning disability services and intensive intervention and crisis teams. The day was a huge success and this year broke the record for the number of attendees.

 

The day contained the following:

·         Key note speech – Professor Sue Bailey, President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists

·         The Equality Act 2010: what does this mean for CAMHS? – Camilla Parker and Jo Honigmann, Just Equality

·         Interact Outreach Service: A Model for Effective Adolescent Care – Steve Mylchreest, Team Leader, INTERACT

·         Bumpstart: A CAMHS Based Infant Mental Health Service – Peter Corr, Service Manager, INSPIRE

·         "I've learnt not to be ashamed anymore" Empowering young people who hear voices through collaborative working – Rachel Waddingham, Project Manager, MIND

·         The Effectiveness of Parent-Directed Interventions to Manage Sleep and Behaviour Problems in Disabled Children  - Bryony Beresford, Research Director, University of York

·         Improving Transitions using Quality Improvement Methodology – Newcastle CAMHS

·         Plus a workshop run by QNCC young person advisors
