Governance
The ECTAS process is governed by several
staff and committees:
Advisory Group
The ECTAS Advisory Group comprises of staff
from the participating services and representatives from
service commissioning, professional bodies, and other national
organisations and those who represent the service use perspectives.
This group meets on an annual basis to discuss and revise the ECTAS
standards to reflect updated changes to ECT practice and
legislation.

Accreditation Committee
The ECTAS Accreditation Committee makes
recommendations about the accreditation status of each service that
is reviewed under the programme. The members and the

Royal College of Psychiatrists Special Committee for
Professional Practice and Ethics (SCPPE)
The SCPPE is the awarding body of the Royal College of
Psychiatrists, and all accreditation decisions must be ratified by
them before they can be awarded to member services.
The ECTAS Team
ECTAS is co-ordinated daily by Geraldine
Murphy, the ECTAS Project Worker and is
helped by
Emily Doncaster, ECTAS Deputy Programme
Manager.
Heading the ECTAS project is Joanne Cresswell,
ECTAS Programme Manager.
