Some of The Quality Network's Development Work

  • Psychotherapy Standards Development

The Quality Network for Forensic Mental Health Services conducted a survey to establish the current provision of psychotherapy within Medium Secure Services. Relevant standards have now been developed following a working group and consultation period and the standards will be published soon.

  • Community Forensic Mental Health Services Consultation

A survey was circulated to member services to establish the current arrangements in place in relation to Community Forensic Mental Health Services. The responses have now been collated and a working group has been established to discuss the findings.

  • Recovery Stories

One of the recommendations in the Quality Network’s Cycle 5 Annual Report related to the implementation of Recovery Models in Medium Secure Services. In response to this the Quality Network ran a workshop on Implementing Recovery Models in January 2012. During this workshop delegates suggested that it would be useful to have access to a pool of recovery stories written by service users which they would be able to circulate to help engender hope for staff and service users. The Quality Network's Service User Experts as well as service users from member services have submitted their recovery stories. This will be an ongoing project so please email Sarah Stubbs if you would like to submit a story.

  • Evidence Based Research on the Benefits of Vocational Opportunities and Access to Education in Medium Secure Settings

The provision of vocational opportunities and access to education within medium secure settings were both recommendations in the Cycle 5 Annual Report due to the number of services found to find these areas a challenge. As a result of these findings, in January 2012, the Quality Network held a workshop on vocational opportunities and one on access to education. During these workshops delegates suggested that it would be useful for the Quality Net-work to collate evidence based research on the benefits of vocational opportunities and access to education in medium secure services. Therefore the Quality Network is currently collecting evidence from member services. This will be an ongoing project so please email Sarah Stubbs if you would like to submit evidence based research.
