Prime Minister recommends MSNAP
26.3.12
Today, David Cameron pledged to double the budget for research
into dementia by 2015. He issued his
Challenge on Dementia, which details
key commitments and actions for making dementia a priority in
Britain. The list of actions in this document includes:
- We will ensure that memory clinics are established in
all parts of the country, and will work with the
Royal College of Psychiatrists to drive up the proportion of memory
services that are accredited, through publication of their national
Memory Services Accreditation Programme, so that individual
organisations can benchmark and report their own performance to
drive improvement.
Prof Martin Orrell, Chair of the programme said ‘The Memory
Services National Accreditation Programme has become successfully
established over the last few years and now has a membership of 52
services. The endorsement from the Prime Minister is a great
opportunity to improve the quality of memory services across the
country to ensure that people with dementia and their families have
rapid access to high quality care’
We at MSNAP are delighted that MSNAP has been
given this recognition by the Prime Minister, and we would like to
congratulate our members for being the first cohort of memory
services to embark on this initiative.

MSNAP Forum a success
1.12.11
Thank you to everyone who attended the MSNAP National Memory
Services Forum on 23rd November 2011. We had around 120
delegates including 30 speakers, as well as 4 exhibition
stands, and we packed out the Manchester Conference
Centre. Next year we hope to make the event bigger and
better! We'll be announcing the date and place of the
2012 conference very soon and we hope to see you there.
