"The team have found the process of accreditation a real
learning curve and we are now more aware of having to evidence all
our practice. The team are thrilled at gaining accreditation,
and it's a real tribute to the team and their commitment to the
unit."

"[AIMS is] one of the most satisfying and
rewarding things I've ever been involved with in my 25 years as a
Service User, as it has such positive effects for care provision,
so it's a real pleasure to be part of it."

What is AIMS?
AIMS is a
standards-based accreditation programme designed to improve
the quality of care in inpatient mental health wards. Through a
comprehensive process of review, we identify and acknowledge high
standards of organisation and patient care, and support other
services to achieve these.
Accreditation assures
staff, service users and carers, commissioners and regulators of
the quality of the service being provided.
AIMS accredits acute
and assessment wards for working-age adults, wards for older
people, psychiatric intensive care units, inpatient learning
disability services, inpatient rehabilitation units and care
for young people on adult wards.
AIMS is an initiative
of the College Centre for Quality Improvement.
