This page is for doctors who have retired and
those approaching retirement.
Dr Angela Rouncefield and Dr Paul Divall represent Retired Doctors
on the South West Division Executive Committee. Contact can be made
by forwarding an email to Abigail Watts.
Training EventsAll SWDT
events are open to Retired Doctors for CPD and in addition for
2014 the South West Division has put together four half day courses
in 2014 specifically to meet the needs of retired psychiatrists. We
are aware that retired psychiatrists can feel isolated and
bewildered especially by the prospects of revalidation. Many of us
find odd jobs to do, some within organisations that can help e.g.
SOADs in the CQC, but others are doing bits and bobs of
assessments, with no particular parent organisation. To give
guidance and assist in the “careers” of retirees we hope to welcome
you to these four half days, which are open to any psychiatrist who
has retired from their substantive NHS post (you do not have to
meet the College’s requirements for reduced fees) providing you
attend 2 of the 3 biannual meetings from Autumn 2013 to Autumn
There will be a nominal charge for each event
to cover lunch and administrative charges.
We are able to offer the following topics and
dates in 2014 for your diaries:
6 March, 12:30 –
14 July, 10:00 –
4 September, 12:30 –
Health Legislation Update
15 December, 10:00 –
Assessment and Management
The topics have been chosen to reflect what we
believe to be the mainstream needs of psychiatrists who continue to
offer help and advice, or are involved in activities such as
Section 12 work. Each meeting will include a short update on
revalidation, especially to hear members’ experiences and to share
good or helpful practice.

SWDT are always willing to consider any events that are relevant to
this group and any ideas can be forwarded to Abigail
Watts for consideration at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
