This course has been set up to help prepare advanced trainees who are just about to take on their first consultant role and consultants who have been appointed in the last 5 years.

It seeks to address the common anxieties experienced by the  majority of doctors moving into this role.  Participants will be able to share and explore their experiences in a safe environment and learn from other doctors who have roles in medical education and management and some who are going through this transition.

Leaflet and application form will be available shortly.

  • HCR-20 Practical skills in structured risk assessment - date tbc - Coombe Lodge, Blagdon, North Somerset

HCR-20 is a risk assessment tool originally designed for those working in forensic psychiatry but it is also an excellent tool for anyone working in mental health where there is a risk of violence.

The HCR-20 tool has become the accepted ‘gold-standard’ for risk assessment.  Thorough detailed risk assessment approaches such as the HCR-20 can be utilised to develop practical approaches to the care of psychiatric patients with an apparent predisposition towards violence.

Leaflet and application form will be available shortly.
