The UK Psychiatrists Brain Injury
Group was formed in 1997 and meets twice yearly at the Royal
College of Psychiatrists. The group consists of Members and Fellows
of the College who have a specific interest in brain injury.
The aim of this group is to share
information about the assessment, diagnosis and management of
people with brain injury and to develop appropriate services for
people with the mental health consequences of brain injury.
Specific aims are:
- Developing assessment guidelines
- Discussion of difficult cases
- Collaboration in research projects
- Development of treatment guidelines
- Creation of training opportunities or programmes
- A support network for clinicians
- A forum for discussion of and response to political documents
relating to brain injury.
