Psychiatry Summer SchoolsThe Third Cardiff Annual Summer School in Brain Disorder Research

4 - 7 July 2011

Cardiff

 

The School is aimed at clinical trainees, particularly those in foundation and core training, who are interested an academic career and want an introduction to cutting edge research in psychiatric and neurological disorders. A variety of paradigms will be introduced including epidemiology, neuroimaging, molecular biology and genetics.

Via talks, workshops and informal discussion participants will gain an appreciation of a range of exciting approaches to the study of brain disorders and the opportunities available to pursue a career in research.

 

Participation is limited to 30 attendees and places will be allocated competitively. If you are successfully awarded a place there will be a fee of £150 to attend the school which will include course fees, refreshments, accommodation and reasonable travel costs. This fee is heavily subsidised by generous funding from the MRC and WORD.

Institute of Psychiatry Sumer School

Monday 18 July - Friday 22 July 2011

The Institute of Psychiatry Summer School is a week long programme of seminars, demonstrations, patient interviews and tours covering cutting edge science, world class facilities and a taste of Psychiatry's history.  It will feature Psychiatry celebrities, such as the Guardian Newspaper's Dr Ben Goldacre and the film maker Dr Avie Luthra.  There will also be an evening reception held in the garden of the Royal College in Belgrave Square hosted by the Dean. 

 

The Institute of Psychiatry Summer School is FREE to attend and includes FREE bed and breakfast accommodation with a Psychiatrist.

 

There are 30 places available on the Institute of Psychiatry Summer School. To apply for a place, please submit a brief statement (maximum 200 words) explaining why you should be selected for a place to Charlotte Collins. Applicants must be registered as a Student Associate of the College.

 

The deadline for applications is Friday 15 April 2011.

 


 

Sheffield Psychiatry Summer School

Monday 1 August - Thursday 4 August 2011

University of Sheffield, The Longley Centre, Norwood Grange Drive, Sheffield S5 7JT

 

The Sheffield Psychiatry Summer School is four days of talks, networking sessions, field trips and visits to clinical facilities for undergraduates who are interested in a career in psychiatry.  There will be ample opportunities to meet with current trainees, consultants, students and researchers.  Further information is available on the website.

 

The Sheffield Psychiatry Summer School is FREE to attend and includes FREE accommodation at the University's new student village for attendees who live more than 25 miles from Sheffield.
