Cognitive behaviour therapy group
Cognitive behaviour therapy has established itself as an
essential component of care in all branches of psychiatry. It is
the most widely researched of all psychological treatments and has
amassed a wealth of evidence for its effectiveness. The CBT group
of the Royal College consists of members of the Psychotherapy
Faculty who have an interest in cognitive and behavioural
methods.
It is open to all psychiatrists who are members of the
College. Its aims are to represent CBT within the Psychotherapy
Faculty, to support and develop CBT training and skills amongst
psychiatrists and to provide a forum where psychiatrists practising
CBT can exchange information and opinions.
A number of psychiatrists with an interest in CBT are currently
on the Psychotherapy Faculty Executive:
- Stirling Moorey (chair of the CBT group)
- Doug Turkington
- Chris Williams
Richard Fox and Stirling Moorey are members of the Psychotherapy
Training Specialist Advisory Committee (PTSAC) and advise on SpR
training in CBT.
