About Podcasting
These podcasts will each consist of a half hour audio programme,
similar to a radio show. The simplest way to hear them is to click
on the “Download” link, and choose the “Open” option in the dialog
box. The file should then be loaded and played by your computer’s
default audio software. Alternatively, you can save the file to
listen to later.
Various types of “podcatchers”, freely available to download,
will allow you to subscribe to the podcast as they come out,
without needing to revisit these pages or watch out for them. Each
edition will be delivered to your computer. Subscribing is
completely free, and you can cancel at any time. Links to some
podcatchers are given on the main podcast page. (You should always
read the set-up and help guides. The Royal College of Psychiatrists
is not responsible for the content of any external websites, or
programs contained on them).
Once you have set up your podcatcher, you will need to
“subscribe” to our podcast feed. How this is done will depend on
your particular software, but usually there will be a button saying
“Add” or “Subscribe”, and you will need to enter the
relevant link address (given on our main podcast page).
Your software will then automatically check the page for updates
when it is run (you can set most of them to run automatically from
time to time), and will download any new podcasts it finds. You can
then listen to them on your PC, or transfer them to your portable
MP3 player to listen to later.
