The Deprivation of Liberty
Safeguards are new measures to protect people who lack the mental
capacity to make certain decisions for themselves. They came
into effect in April 2009 using the principles of the Mental
Capacity Act 2005 and apply to people in care homes or hospitals
where they may be deprived of their liberty.
‘One of the best if not the best training seminar I have
been to. Dialogue style very good, plenty of time for discussion
and very user friendly’
DoLS Mental Health Assessors are required to undertake further
relevant training on an annual basis. We are pleased to
present a one-day update course which meets these requirements, and
covers new case law and recent developments.
For more information please contact Catherine Ayres, Programme
Manager.
