Overview

A hands-on practical update for all psychiatrists supported by the General and Community Psychiatry Faculty, Royal College of Psychiatrists covering: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Neurology,  Respiratory Conditions and Physical Examination.

The problem of physical co-morbidity in people with a mental illness is receiving increasing recognition. Lifestyle factors, side effects of medication, genetic influences and inequalities in health service provision may all combine to lead to an increased prevalence of physical illness in this population. Maintaining the skills necessary for the detection of common medical disorders in people with mental illness, is an essential component of psychiatric practice.

This course brings together a range of experts to provide you with an update on the common physical disorders that occur in your everyday practice, followed by a practical session to refresh your physical examination skills. This course is eligible for 6 CPD hours subject to your peer group approval.
