Course Background

Health of the Nation Outcome Scales for People with Learning Disabilities (HoNOS-LD) are designed for use with people with a learning disability with mental health needs irrespective of the degree of their disability. HoNOS-LD has been tested for inter-rater reliability, convergent reliability, validity to change and acceptability in a national pilot study. Results demonstrate a good inter-rater reliability and a level of sensitivity to change that was acceptable to clinicians working in the field. This course is eligible for 5 CPD hours subject to your peer group approval.

Aims and Objectives

  • Explain the rules and principles of rating the HoNOS-LD
  • Provide experience in HoNOS-LD rating through the use of HoNOS-LD to rate clinical vignettes in group exercises
  • Identify how outcome measurement can benefit clinical practice
  • Describe the development of the tool and the results from the trials
