The application process

England

The application process for core training level 1 (CT1) jobs in England is centralised and managed by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. For full guidelines for applicants see the information on the College recruitment pages.

Registration and application forms can also be found online during the recruitment process.

There is a single application form for all regions/deaneries in England. All applications are reviewed by the North West Deanery, which longlists the applicants. The longlist is then sent to the candidate’s first- and second-choice deanery. The deaneries create a shortlist of candidates to interview. Interviews take place during February and March and offers are subsequently made. There is also a clearing process whereby any vacancies which remain unfilled will be offered to those candidates considered suitable for CT1 training at interview but not previously offered a training post.

Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales

Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales all have separate processes for application. These are accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
