The Psychiatric Trainees’
Committee is a standing committee of the Council,
formed of representatives of Senior Trainees and Pre-Membership
Psychiatric Trainees (PMPTs) of each Division. The PTC’s remit is
to advise the Council on all matters affecting
training and trainees.

Divisional representatives
Three representatives
should be elected from each Division in England, three from Wales,
three from Northern Ireland and two from each of the three
geographical areas in Scotland.

- London Division Representation: The PTC
co-opt an additional three trainees from the London Division in
order to facilitate effective representation.
- Military Representation: one trainee is
elected by the Armed Forces.
- Republic of Ireland Representation: one Irish
trainee is elected by the Trainees' Committee from the College of
Psychiatry of Ireland.
- Hong Kong Representation: One trainee is
elected by the Trainees' Committee from Hong Kong.
- Student Associate Representation: One
medical student, and one foundation doctor are co-opted onto the
PTC by an election and votes from Student Associates of the
College.
- Service User & Carer Forum
Representation: One Service Users’ Forum member, and one
Carers’ Forum member are co-opted onto the PTC from these
respective groups.
