RCPsych would like to thank
the Department for Work and
Pensions for encouragement and
support in developing guidance for individuals,
employers and healthcare professionals on returning to
fitness and to work following a period of mental ill
health. This is a key area to address given the high
numbers of people that experience mental ill health, the
fluctuating nature of many mental health conditions and the
scarcity of advice on recovery times
and return to work.
This website was
developed by a multi-professional group including psychiatrists,
psychologists, occupational health physicians, HR professionals,
employers, service users and carers. We are particularly grateful
to the following people. Dr Jed Boardman (Chair of the Steering
Group), Gail Adams, Janey Antoniou, Nick Bason, Dr Steve Boorman,
Julia Burnside, Leasil Burrow, Dr Deborah Cohen, Emma
Donaldson-Feilder, Dr Bob Grove, Deborah Hart, Dr Max Henderson
Thomas Kennedy, Professor Sayeed Khan, Dr Paul Litchfield, Emer
O’Neil, Dr Lesley Rogers, Dr David Ryan, Susan Scott-Parker,
Professor Geoff Shepherd, Dr Philip Timms. We would to thank
everyone who tested the website for us.
